GOALS from Jon Else, Isaac Shaze and trialist Ollie Cleaver were enough to help new-look Forest Green win their opening pre-season friendly of the season at Frome Town last night.
Forest Green boss Dave Hockaday showcassed different teams either side of the break.
The former Watford coach included ex-Millwall trainee Ryan James in central defence and former Bournemouth, Bath City and Weston defender Callum Hart and ex- Cheshunt midfielder Cleaver.
Rovers’ opened the scoring on six minutes. Ian Herring’s pass picked out Else, who finished into the bottom corner. Shaze made it two four minutes later from 20 yards.
It was 3-0 two minutes after the break , Cleaver fizzing in from the edge of the area. Hartpury striker Max Etheridge saw a cross-shot clip the crossbar.
Former Forest Green keeper Tom Pass did well with a point-blank block from Etheridge.
