FORMER Forest Green footballer Sean Rigg is set to complete a permanent switch to League Two side Port Vale after being released by Bristol Rovers.
The 21-year-old forward is expected to sign a two-year contract at Vale Park, where he has been on loan since November.
Rovers confirmed yesterday that they have decided not to renew the former Katharine Lady Berkeley’s School pupil’s contract, which expired at the end of the season.
Rigg progressed from the Filton College Academy to the first team at Rovers, making his first team debut in the 2006-07 season and helping them win promotion to League One.
He was also part of their run to the FA Cup quarter-finals the following season, but has found his opportunities limited in the past two campaigns.
After a brief loan spell at Grays Athletic in the 2008-09 season, he joined Forest Green for a three-month stint at the beginning of last season, scoring six goals in 15 Blue Square Premier games.
He has since impressed at Port Vale, scoring three goals in nine starts and 17 substitute appearances as they just missed out on a play-off place.
