MINCH got back into winning ways with a fine win against Wotton.
It was mid way through the first half when Nick Dill’s penalty kick started the scores rolling. Soon after a good breakthrough by Chris Brookman was finished off well by Chris Trim, who scored his first try for the club. Wotton started the second half well and within 10 minutes they had a penalty, quickly followed by a try, and were now level and back in the game. However, Minch were putting great pressure on the Wotton defence, which paid off with another Dill penalty and Minch were back in the lead. Tails were up and when Pete Varley burst through to score under the posts at close range, and Alex Villiere scored a try from the halfway line barely minutes later, Hampton were clear and firmly in control. Rich Jessup finished off a move that involved almost the entire team and gave Hampton the final say in the match and a good 32-10 victory.
Minchinhampton RFC president, Graham Gregory and the club vice-presidents will be organising an invitation XV to play a Minchinhampton XV on Sunday 23rd November, to be followed by a buffet lunch and refreshments.
This event will be held at Fromehall Park, Stroud and match kick off will be at 1.30pm.
