PAINSWICK are through to the quarter-finals of the Voneus Village Cup after a tremendous six-wicket victory away to Goatacre, writes Steve Hill.
The Wiltshire side were restricted to 139 all out after winning the toss, Matt Conolly (3-20) leading the charge while there were also two wickets apiece for brother Jon and Keegan Jansen Van Rensburg.
The visitors then rallied from losing an early wicket to get over the line with more than ten overs to spare, Luke Woolway (39 not) and Alastair Conolly (35) taking charge.
Gloucestershire group champions Painswick are now preparing for a daunting trip on Sunday to Grampound Road, of Truro.
Also on Sunday, Aston Ingham will entertain Dumbleton in an all-Gloucestershire tie.
Aston Ingham, who are currently leading Division One of the Gloucestershire County League, qualified for the national rounds as champions of the Herefordshire & Powys group, while WEPL outfit Dumbleton - the 2022 champions - won the Worcestershire group.
CAPTAIN Daz Ahmed plundered 65 off only 24 balls (two fours, eight sixes) as Golden Hill thumped Twyford House by 196 runs to reach the quarter-finals of the Stuart Canvas Gloucestershire Cup.
Golden Hill piled up 336, Josh Beal cracking 65 off 34 while there was also 83 for Jack Penn and 65 from Lesego Senokwane, Lachlan Graveney Massey finishing with 5-32.
Toheed Hamid then bagged 4-3 as Twyford folded to 140.
Bristol West Indian Phoenix were six-wicket victors at Langford, opener Vishal Mamgai leading the way with 77.
Also through are Downend, courtesy of a two-wicket home success over Stapleton.
Opener Sam Millard’s unbeaten 111 from 108 (14 fours, one six) plus a rapid unbeaten 70 off 32 from Ash Birkinshaw which featured five fours and seven sixes lifted Stapleton to 304-6.
But Downend paced their reply nicely to secure the win with nine balls to spare thanks to Maz Khan (84) and Temoor Naeem (61 not).
Bedminster saw off Chipping Sodbury by five wickets, Jamie Brooks capturing 4-30 from eight.
Two ties are scheduled for Sunday with Cheltenham hosting Knowle and Tewkesbury entertaining Bristol.
Pak Bristolians, meanwhile, moved into the semi-finals of the Stuart Canvas Gloucestershire Trophy following a three-wicket victory away to Quedgeley & Hardwicke.
Sam Huggins top scored on an unbeaten 48 as the home side reached 201-5 in a 30-over contest before Abdul Sami (56) helped Pak Bristolians book a last four clash on Sunday at home to holders Bristol Pakistanis.
BRISTOL breezed past Frocester and then Bridgwater to win WEPL’s T20 and qualify for the first regional round of this national ECB competition.
Miles Kantolinna (3-13) shone as Frocester were bowled out for 109 and then trumped by five wickets.
And Bristol followed up by walloping Bridgwater, whose side included former West Indian captain Carlos Braithwaite, by ten wickets, Sam Bracey hammering 75 off 51 in the chase of a target of 116.
Bristol, along with Exmouth, Newport and Penzance, now progress to the next round, at Bridgwater on August 4.
