ONE of Stroud Anglers' very own members will be representing his country at an upcoming world championships later this year.
'Team Garbolino Gloucester' are dreaming of Gold medals in Portugal in May, where they will be representing England in the World Club Feeder Championships.
The team reached the showpiece event after seeing off the competition from 29 of England's top teams at the qualifying competition on the Gloucester Canal earlier this month. Included in the team is Stroud Angling Club's Andy Richings, aka “the Berkeley butcher” from Berkeley.
He can be seen holding the team winners cheque, presented to the Gloucester team after winning the event along with fellow team members Brian Steer, Geoff Knight, Bruce Amos, Simon Ellis and Mike Blackmore.
The venue for the final is a reservoir near Barragem de Odivelas in Portugal the team will have to fund the journey themselves due to lack of sponsorship and shall be leaving the week before the two-day final to practice the different methods that will be needed to succeed against the top teams in the World.
