STRIKER Shawn McCoulsky has joined National League side Halifax Town on a one-month loan.
Billed as a marquee signing from Championship outfit Bristol City, he arrived last January on a two-year deal - triumphantly ushered in to negate the loss of leading scorer Christian Doidge who made a dream move to Bolton Wanderers, but financial implications forced the Welshman to return to the New Lawn, forcing his replacement to become a peripheral figure.
With Doidge moving to Scottish Premiership Hibernian in the summer, McCoulsky looked set for a second bite of the cherry after a prolific pre-season, but he failed to carry his form into the league and now looks surplus to requirements after going 22 competitive games without a goal.
The writing was on clearly on the wall following his return from a loan spell at National League outfit Bromley, McCoulsky failed to make the squad for Rovers’ Leasing.com 6-0 defeat at Walsall last month in a team that featured a raft of academy starlets.
