It was a trip into the unknown for Forest Green on Saturday. Orient were struggling in the league and had been humiliated in the cup by Walton and Tiptree. The club were in a jam. Manager Carl Fletcher had been sacked after 29 days in charge. So many people were still reeling from the death of popular manager Justin Edinburgh.
It certainly was a roller coaster of a game. Rovers started with pace and vigour. Ebou Adams sweeping forward from midfield had an outstanding first-half, punishing his former club with two goals and Matty Stevens scored a smart third. Rovers were three up. Riches indeed. For Orient this was perhaps the low point of the season. Wretched recent results and now 3-0 down. Where was their pride? We soon knew! In the second-half they tore into Rovers. All over the pitch we were second best. Orient scored two goals and more looked to be coming. Subs steadied the ship and Junior Mondal scored a cracking goal that sealed the game . Three points for us but let us hope our hosts can find some stability and success. That would be the best memorial to their late manager. Now for two tough home games. Challengers Crewe in the league on Tuesday and Carlisle in the FA cup.
We must be in fine voice for both. After a n honest and positive fans’ forum we should be. Orient must envy our stability.
