Forest Green Rovers have signed Gambian international Ebrima ‘Ebou’ Adams for an undisclosed nominal fee from National League side Ebbsfleet United.
The 23-year-old, box-to-box midfielder has put pen to paper on a two-year contract at The New Lawn following a fine season with Garry Hill's side, making 37 appearances.
The former Norwich City man is looking to prove himself with Mark Cooper's side who narrowly missed out on promotion to League One last season.
Adams said: “I watched the play-offs and the team that caught my eye were Forest Green.
“The way they played their football, they looked like a good club. I never thought, at the time, I would come and join them.
“I was on international duty and I got a call saying that Forest Green were interested and I couldn’t say no, it’s a great club.
“I will give 110%, no matter what. I’m known as a box-to-box midfielder, I love defending, love attacking and love being involved in the game.
“I will give my all for the team and I’m looking forward to showing what I can do here.”
Mark Cooper, FGR manager, said: “He’s another good young prospect and the kind of box-to-box midfielder we haven’t got, that's pure legs and destructiveness.
“He has quality on the ball, something we are going to work with, and he is highly thought of.
“It was only due to the fact that Ebbsfleet have got well documented issues that we’ve managed to get him for a nominal fee and a big thank you to Garry Hill there for making it run smoothly.”
The London-born midfielder started his career at Dartford, who currently ply their trade in the National League South, before becoming the club’s record sale when he joined Premier League club Norwich City.
Adams was a key player for Norwich’s under-23s and had a loan spell with Shrewsbury Town in League One before having a one-year option in his contract triggered in April, extending his stay until the summer of 2018.
He want out on loan to Leyton Orient during the 2017-18 campaign where he impressed and despite having an offer on the table to make the move permanent, opted for a move to Ebbsfleet last summer where he signed a two-and-a-half year deal.
Adams also has seven international caps with Gambia to his name and was actually on duty with Gambia to his name and was actually on duty for The Scorpions when he heard about the approach from Forest Green.
