DAVID ARTELL insists the play-offs are out of the question for his Crewe side who welcome automatic promotion-chasing Forest Green on Saturday.
However, Artell wants to end the season with back-to-back wins over Mark Cooper's side at Gresty Road and away at Grimsby Town on the final game of the season.
Crewe still have a mathematical chance of finishing seventh if they win both games and a remarkable sequence of results occur.
Artell told the Crewe website:“We would like to finish on 68 points and see where that can take us. The play-offs was a ship that sailed a while ago for me.
“I am sure when we look back and assess the season and dissect it, we will reflect on where we could have should have picked up more points.
“I think everyone can see the improvement we have made but ultimately we have fallen short. People can talk about one more win or the games at Crawley, Yeovil or Macclesfield but ultimately we haven’t got enough points.”
Forest Green beat Crewe 1-0 back in December, a Joseph Mills' deflected strike sealing the points for Cooper's side.
