Mark Cooper labelled defenders Farrend Rawson and Nathan McGinley as 'outstanding' after Forest Green's 1-0 win over Tranmere Rovers.
The pair put their bodies on the line as Rovers had to weather a bit of a storm from Tranmere.
Cooper was particular pleased with McGinley, who was involved in some ugly scenes towards the end after it was confirmed by the Rovers boss that he was spat at but Cooper was delighted with the 21-year-old.
"I've question his physicality this year but the last few games he's been amazing," said Cooper.
"He competed, he got bumps and bruises. He's so good on the ball but if he gets that side of his game right then he's going to be a really good player but the two centre-halves were magnificent."
Cooper also cleared up the incident involving McGinley at the end.
"He was bundled into the net and then he was spat at by a group of Tranmere fans I'm led to believe but it's what it is.
"I don't see how we're getting labelled cheats, the referee is looking like he's giving them everything but we've got to do what we've got to do to win a game."
Cooper was also beaming about Junior Mondal's strike.
