FOREST Green lost on the road for the first time since November 3 as they were undone by two first half goals against West Country rivals Swindon Town.
Former Rovers man Kaiyne Woolery came back to haunt them to give Swindon the lead before Theo Robinson doubled their advantage as Rovers suffered back-to-back defeats for only the second time in the league this season.
Rovers improved in the second half as George Williams hit the post and had a goal disallowed but it proved to be a night to forget for FGR.
Mark Cooper made two changes to the team that lost to Notts County with Nathan McGinley and Williams coming in for Farrend Rawson and Reuben Reid.
Cooper stuck with a back four though as he took on his former club.
Swindon were forced into a change just minutes before kick-off as Danny Rose got injured in the warm-up and was replaced by Canice Carroll.
The visitors started brightly and should have been ahead after four minutes when a free-kick was floated in and Paul Digby won the header which fell to Williams who was one on one but his lob from close range went over the bar.
There was little for either keeper to do until the 33rd minute when Swindon's Theo Robinson got on the end of Ali Koiki's cross but his shot from close range was well cut out by Lewis Ward before the rebound was cleared off the line by Gavin Gunning.
The hosts took the lead two minutes later when former Rovers man Woolery picked up the ball on the right at the edge of the box and curled in a beauty with his left foot.
Forest Green did little in response and Swindon made it worse for them on the stroke of half time.
Theo Robinson picked up the ball from a Keshi Anderson pass. His first touch was brilliant which allowed him to shift the ball onto his right foot and he slotted the ball into the bottom right corner and Rovers found themselves 2-0 down for the first time in the league this season.
Cooper reacted and made a change at half time, bringing Ben Liddle on for his debut in place of Lloyd James.
It seemed to have the desired effect as Forest Green started the half well. Williams came agonisingly close to bringing them back into it when his curling effort was saved onto the post after he picked up the ball from a short corner.
Williams was cursing his luck again around the hour mark as he managed to beat Lawrence Vigouroux with his head as he squeezed it between the keeper's hands but it was ruled out for offside.
The Welshman was by far Rovers' best player and he was again involved in the 77th minute when his low cross caused all sorts of problems and Dion Conroy almost turned the ball into his own net but it the ball trickled just wide of the post.
