FOREST Green midfielder Anthony Barry has joined League Two outfit Accrington Stanley on a three-month loan deal.
The former Rovers captain arrived at the New Lawn with Andy Managan on a three-year contract in May 2013, has yet to feature in a match-day squad this season and was left out of the team photo in August.
The 28-year-old signed by former boss David Hockaday, played for Stanley in their Lancashire Senior Cup defeat to Manchester United Under-21s on Tuesday night and impressed boss John Coleman.
“We haven’t got a great deal of cover in midfield and that’s an area that we’ve highlighted for strengthening,” said Coleman.
“He did exactly what I expected of him last night and he’ll be a very good addition to our squad.
“He’s a better player since the last time he was here, a steady player. and you know exactly what you are going to get out of him.
“He has got a great attitude towards the game which is good to see.”
Barry helped Accrington to the Conference title in 2005/06, although he left to join Yeovil Town in the January of that campaign.
He also played for Chester City and Wrexham. A switch to Fleetwood Town saw him help the Cod Army to the Football League.
