GLOUCESTERSHIRE cricket stars Hamish Marshall and Richard Coughtrie are set to take part in a five-day bike ride from The Riverside Stadium in Durham to The Oval in London at the end of the season.

The ride is in support of both The PCA Benevolent Fund which supports ex-professional cricketers that have fallen on harder times and The Tom Maynard Trust whose main aim is to help underprivileged children reach their aspirations in sport.

The event starts on October 18 and the pair, along with around 50 others, will cover nearly 450 miles. Marshall said: "This will be one of the toughest experiences I've ever h ad and I'm really looking forward to the challenge."

Former Gloucestershire chief executive Tom Richardson added: "It is really good that Hamish and Richard have committed to doing this at the end of a long and hard season.

"These are two tremendous charities and I hope very much that we can all find something, however big or small, to support this effort.

"There will be endless hours in the saddle but the lads cannot wait to get on the road."
