DAVID Hockaday has confirmed the arrival of Aston Villa youth coach Marcus Law.

The former Bristol Rovers goalkeeper joined the club in pre-season and is working in a part-time coaching capacity at the New Lawn in conjunction with his coaching duties at Villa Park.

Hockaday said: "Marcus is a friend of mine, so once a week-if that- he will come in and help with a bit of coaching."

The 37-year-old cut his managerial teeth at Coventry Sphinx, Racing Club Warwick, Quorn and Barwell. While at Barwell he won the Midland Football Alliance, the highest position they had achieved as a club in their history and started an unbeaten run that eventually stretched to 66 games.

After eight months as manager of Kettering, Law was appointed manager of fellow Conference club Tamworth on a three-year contract two years ago.

He led Tamworth to the third round of the FA Cup a year ago, where they lost against Premier League side Everton at Goodison Park. After 19 months in charge at Tamworth, Law was sacked by the club in January.

Meanwhile, Hockaday has snapped up young stoppers Adam McHugh and Irishman Paul White on one-year deals.

McHugh, 21, began his career at St Mirren and had a loan spell at Forfar before joining Hartlepool last summer. White, 18, was previously at Cork City.
