THERE was no Oscar winning finale for Brimscombe striker Mike Beckingham at the Meadow on Saturday.
Beckingham jets-off to Hollywood this week to follow in the acting footsteps of his famous older brother Simon Pegg this week, but he was unable to stop the Lilywhites from crashing to an opening day defeat in their first match at Hellenic Premier Division level.
Highmoor Ibis grabbed an early lead through a wonder strike from Harrison Bailey in the 10th minute.
The visitors went 2-0 up when a free-kick intended by goalkeeper Adam Thomas was pounced on by Ben Lydon.
Phil Baker's side rallied after the break and Beckingham was fouled in the box - Adam Price scored from the penalty spot.
