SHORTWOOD groundsman Mark Webb is still pinching himself after scooping two top FA gongs at the National Football Centre at St George's Park.
The green-fingered groundsman has just been named Southern League Groundsman of the Year and National Groundsman of the Year for clubs at Step 3 and Step 4.
Webb said: "I was so shocked to win it. I knew I had been nominated, but to win a national award is brilliant for me and Shortwood United."
Webb's hallowed pitch was inspected by Premiership groundsmen from West Ham and Spurs, prior to his nomination.
All of the finalists were treated to a tour of the facilities and a presentation by St. George's Park Head Groundsman Alan Ferguson prior to the awards presentation.
This marks the 12th year that the awards have recognised the unsung heroes of the grassroots game through seven national categories.
Shortwood spokesman Jim Cunneen said: "This is a tremendous achievement for Mark.
"Everyone connected with the club will want to congratulate Mark on his award and thank him for the massive effort he puts in - in all weathers with his assistants Keith Williams and Bill Stratford."
FOREST Green groundsman Stewart Ward finished fifth in the Football Conference category.
