MADAM - Whilst it is good to read that the Labour Party is in favour of investigating the formation of a unitary authority, this is a complex issue and will inevitably take some time to achieve before any savings that there may be can be realised.
Meanwhile, the financial pressures on the district council will continue and can only be met by reducing costs, cutting services or increasing council tax.
None of us want to see service cuts and the Labour led coalition have rejected proposals for cutting costs by reducing the number of councillors and elections and holding basic allowances down.
There is only one prospect, and a very Labour one at that, tax and spend.
