Websites such as Reddit and the UK Government page have begun to work again after major news, consumer and government sites crashed simultaneously this morning.
Users trying to access gov.uk were met with the error '503 Service Unavailable' and on other wesbites simply 'connection failure.'
Sites impacted included the New York Times, Financial Times, the Independent, and the Evening Standard as well as eBay and Twitch.
The cause of the simultaneous errors is unclear, but it appears the problems may have originated with the global content delivery network Fastly.
Issues began at around 11am and lasted for about an hour.
Down Detector reported a huge spike in user-reported problems at Amazon Web Services a possible widespread outage at Fastly.
