Cainscross WI: Cheese and Wine Evening
WE WELCOMED most members and one visitor to our Cheese and Wine
Evening in early April.
Apologies were however sent by Dot Brunning, Patsy Williams and Rowena Eccles.
A lovely pink calanchoe pot plant was provided as the table flower by Georgie, who kindly later donated the plant as one of the raffle prizes.
We kept business to the minimum and just discussed some correspondence received, such as the County Picnic, which this year is set to take place in Pittville Park, Cheltenham on Tuesday, June 28.
We had also received a thank you note from Dot Brunning, for her birthday card and flowers and a notelet and the year’s programme from Leonard Stanley inviting us to attend any of their meetings if we so wish.
After this, we started a round of quizzes, prepared for us by Pam Clapp.
It was especially good of Pam to prepare these for us as she has recently been unwell and had a stay in hospital.
We then enjoyed our cheese and wine supper, which included bunches of grapes and celery sticks prepared by President Doreen and set out by the committee.
With supper finished, we returned to the remaining quizzes with much laughter over some of the answers and results obtained!
Pam even provided prizes for the winning and losing groups and we thank her once again for all her efforts.
Our next meeting will fall on Tuesday, May 3, which will include the Resolutions, followed by a fun mini-auction which is usually much enjoyed.
Then on Tuesday, June 7, we look forward to the ‘Tale of a Toastmaster’ by Mr Jim McLeod with the monthly competition being for a Summer Hat.
Both meetings will take place, as usual, in St Matthew’s Church Hall, Cainscross to start at 7.15pm.
We always have refreshments, a raffle and sales table, so we hope you can join us at a meeting soon.
