AUGUST began with Carol Kambites leading 13 members on a sunny but breezy afternoon on a trip to Arlingham.
It is always a pleasure to reach the river bank to enjoy the views.
Tea was taken at the Stable Cafe at Saul before coming home via Westend.
On August 10 a total of 12 riders joined Nigel Warr, leading the Wheelers for the first time, on a circuit around the lanes to Elmore, Longney and Epney to Attwoolls for tea and cakes.
Our tandem duo - Pete and Pat took the lead on August 17 to support Pat's Granddaughter Emma, who was about to undertake a sponsored cycle journey to Paris in aid of charity.
After enjoying a ride around different lanes for a super tea and cakes stop at Pat's daughter's home in Leonard Stanley.
Donations were made ahead of Emma's successful adventure.
On August 24, Dave Limbrick was leader for a day ride from Gloucester to Tewkesbury.
A total of eight took part before returning for tea and a selection of Dave's excellent homemade cakes.
August ended with Roy Jones leading a total of 13 cyclists, out via Avening and Crudwell to Malmesbury for our tea stop at the Summer Cafe.
The return journey was via Shipton Moyne.
On Sunday, September 7, 10 members made the annual trip to the Whiteway fete.
Malcolm Jackson led the riders along Wick Street and Jack's Green to the Salt Box crossroads before arriving in Whiteway.
On a super Sunday everyone enjoyed the occasion before returning through The Camp and Stancombe.
Purton Church was our destination on September 14 when 17 Wheelers joined Roy Jones riding out through Frocester, Slimbridge and Wanswell for the Tea Stop at the Church.
We returned via Stinchcombe.
Our Club held its AGM on Thursday, September 18.
It was well attended with all the retiring office holders being re-elected.
The main event being the trophy presentation to Pete Day for achieving the most rides for the year.
Sunday, September 21 was another special occasion being an included part of the celebration of Margaret and Bill Adams' Diamond Wedding Anniversary.
Bill led a ride around the lanes before returning to their home for an Equinox Extravaganza of Sangria and Anniversary Cake etc.
Tony Martin was leader on September 28 for a trip along Wick Street to Bulls Cross.
Tony used this opportunity to talk about Laurie Lee and enjoy the fabulous local views.
We rode down through Slad, again further views across the valley, before having a picnic near The Museum in the Park.
Our summer season of Wednesday evening outings were made more enjoyable this year by the proper summer weather.
Up to as many as thirteen members joined Bill for trips by various routes towards the river with an included stop for a drink of choice, at one of several local hostelries before returning before dark.
