TO START our autumn programme in September, members and visitors were treated to a slide presentation, by Howard Beard, ‘Stroud and District - An A to Z in old postcards’- many of which had never been shown in public before.
There were lots of pictures of Stroud in the Edwardian era and at many different events.
Our next meeting is on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at 7.30pm when John Putley, from Gloucester Archives, will talk about the County’s highway men – Stand and Deliver! Tickets on the door - Members £2.50, Non-members welcome £3.50 - includes refreshments.
We are now taking bookings for our 'Christmas Social Evening with a Magic Lantern Show', on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at 7.30pm.
Non-members are welcome – pre-booking essential (by December 1 at latest) – tickets £4 members/ £5 non-members, either at our October or November meetings or phone 01453 759641.
Both meetings will be at St Laurence Church Hall in The Shambles, High Street, Stroud GL5 1AP (nearest car park is Church Street).
