PART of a legacy left to the League of Friends by Mr Francis Lloyd Watts to support Nailsworth Community Nurses has been put to good use for the purchase of a Coagucheck XS Plus machine.
This machine can monitor the clotting tendency of blood and can be used by the nurse during a home visit to carry out an instant check on the blood of the patient.
This is done by a ‘thumb prick’ and has replaced the need for the nurse to take a blood sample which had to be sent off to Gloucester for analysis.
This enables housebound patients to have a blood test in a less invasive procedure and with speedy results.
This new equipment is much appreciated and is of benefit to both patients and nurses.
