AFTER a break for August, gardening club members met again on Tuesday, September 9.
In the absence of Iris Perry the meeting was taken by Betty Clarke.
Details of the proposed Gardening Club holiday based in Derbyshire were given out and takes place from Friday, June 26 to Tuesday, June 30, 2015.
There are still some places available and there may also be single rooms.
The holiday will take in some beautiful gardens with a full itinerary each day.
It is also open to non members to whom a warm welcome will be given.
If you are interested please telephone Ann Adams on (01453) 758353 for further details as soon as possible.
Our speaker for the evening was Mr David Cropp, who kindly came at short notice.
He had researched and written a book about “T W Sanders, Editor of Amateur Gardening”.
Mr Sanders was editor for 40 years and also wrote countless books on various gardening subjects, a selection of which Mr Cropp passed around.
The coloured plates in the older books were stunning.
Before he gave his talk he had written various questions out and passed them to members who then had to ask the questions at given times.
He also had copies of his book for sale.
Refreshments were then served by members of the committee and the raffle prizes of seasonal bulbs were won by Irene and Angela.
Our next meeting is on Tuesday, October 14 with Mr Pedrick on “Propagation”.
New members and visitors will be given a warm welcome.
