STROUD Shambles WI won first prize in the Stroud and District WI Rose Bowl Competition in their first ever entry.
The theme had been Celebrations and you could choose from a) The Queen's Diamond Jubilee, b) The Olympics and c) 200 years of Charles Dickens.
The entry had to include all five home crafts set in a display.
Stroud Shambles WI chose the Queen's diamond jubilee and the display looked striking set on white satin and keeping red, blue and white theme.
They were awarded the highest aggregate of points in all crafts, with some articles being awarded 20/20 in a strong competition from other local WIs.
Last year the Stroud Country Show had been cancelled due to very wet conditions so it was good to have the sun as well as the first prize.
