DURING the church service on July 7 at 10.30am at Rodborough Tabernacle United Reformed Church, the Rev Eric Massey, the Minister, inducted Mary Evans as an Elder.

Their responsibility is to look after and assist the minister and they are inducted for life.

Eric served Holy Communion personally to Mary and offered her the right hand of friendship together with the other Elders present.

On Sunday, July 14 at 10.30am, the Wednesday Fellowship Anniversary took place with Dorothy Ede, the chairman, introducing Karen Burridge who conducted the Service.

Anomaly, the Tab's own folk group, performed and accompanied the hymn singing and sang some of their own compositions.

Avril Peake read the first lessons from 1 Colossians.

The second reading was the parable of The Good Samaritan.

Peggy Short was the narrator and Jesus and Mary Price as the Teacher of the Law, who read the passage.

The story was brought to life by mime with the traveller Diana Davis being attacked by the robbers Margaret Miller and Maggie Small and the Priest Rose Wixon and the Levite Barbara Cook ignoring his plight.

Then the Good Samaritan Jill Watkins came and rescued and took the traveller to an inn keeper Anne Evans.

Karen explained that the area where the traveller was attacked was very barren and how the Priest and the Levite would have been governed by very strict Jewish laws not to touch anyone as they would be made unclean.

The choice of a Samaritan as a good neighbour would have been a tremendous shock to the crowd as they were hated by the Jews.

She had split up the congregation into the relevant players and questioned they how they would have felt which made the very well known story come to life.

Dorothy Gillings and Dorothy Ede led the Prayers of Intercession.
The children returned and made the congregation join in with "Open the eyes of my heart" and they gave out love hearts to everyone.

If gave much food for thought "Who is my neighbour."

Coffee and cake were partaken in the Community Room.

It is tradition after the Anniversary Service the following Wednesday afternoon there is a tea party held.

Before proceedings started the Fellowship sang Happy Birthday to one of their loyal members Olive Snell for her 80th birthday.

It was an American Style Tea and everyone had been very busy preparing a delicious repast.

The entertainment was Four of a Kind.

Marion, Dave, Sue and Bill sang numbers from 1960s and 1970s accompanying themselves on different sizes of ukuleles.

It was a lovely time with the audience participating and much foot tapping.

In among the numbers Sue sang I Have A Dream very movingly and Bill finished the afternoon with Drink Up Thy Zider and a duet with Dave of Aunty Bertha's Birthday which had everyone laughing.

Dorothy Ede and her committee would like to thank them and everyone who attended both events especially Karen Burridge for making them both joyous occasions.

Anyone interested in the Fellowship should contact Dorothy on 01453 765978.
