AT the July meeting, the members of Minchinhampton Gardening Club were treated to an excellent talk on planting and caring for bulbs by the expert gardener, Reg Moules, who is well known for his frequent broadcasts on BBC radio about many facets of cultivating gardens.
Reg gave members a great deal of very useful information on many aspects of his subject, including the nature and structure of a bulb, the method and the depth necessary for planting, care and protection of the bulbs and resulting plants, in a very instructive and amusing way.
After the talk, he answered questions from the audience.
Minchinhampton Gardening Club will again be holding their very popular Annual Show in Minchinhampton School Hall in conjunction with the Minchinhampton Country Fayre on Saturday, September 14.
Judging will take place early in the morning and the Show will be open to the public from 11am until 4.30pm, when prizes will be presented by local journalist and author, Katie Jarvis.
Delicious cakes and teas will be on sale at the show and there will also be a plant stall in aid of fayre funds.
Both members and resident non-members are welcome to enter for the show which will include classes for flowers, fruit, domestic science, photography and children.
We would be delighted to see more entries from children this year and hope that as many people as possible will also enter to ensure the show's continued success.
Schedules for the show are available from shops and businesses around Minchinhampton.
We hope to see you there.
