HOUSEHOLD water conservation can now be achieved with ease thanks to an ingeniously simple gadget from Stroud company BoB Products Ltd.
The Chalford-based outfit is haling its petit ShowerBoB water timer as the answer to every shower user’s energy consumption fears.
Available in three eye-catching colours, the hour glass designed product sticks to the side of the shower cubical and runs out in exactly four minutes – gently reminding users to think about finishing up for the sake of the environment.
The average time spent in the shower is around seven minutes but usage for a family of four can see bills mount up quickly.
Research carried out by the UK water consumption watchdog Waterwise estimates that using ShowerBob daily can knock up to £180 off annual water and energy bills.
"I became so fed up waiting in the bathroom queue in the morning whilst the kid’s showers seem to get longer and longer," said joint company director Nigel Schermuly, who heads up the firm with his business partner Jonathan Topps and their respective partners Karen and Rachel.
"I started looking into it and was amazed to find out how much energy and water we could save by cutting just a few minutes each morning, not to mention less rushing about.
"That is why Jonathan and I teamed up to design what we hope is a good looking, affordable and useful bathroom gadget."
Staying true to their preference for simplicity, the company’s latest product Tap Tags fits easily around all outdoor tap fixings to again encourage homeowners to think responsibly about water consumption while hosing the garden or washing the car.
