Quedgeley library is having three self service kiosks installed to enable customers to serve themselves. These Quick Serve kiosks will allow customers to borrow, renew and return items, check reservations and pay charges without waiting for a member of staff to assist them. The library will also be getting a smaller counter and a standalone PC for customers to self-book computer sessions, browse the catalogue and reserve books. Quedgeley Library will be closed from 12th–17th September for the improvements to take place. The improvements are part of the county council’s strategy to improve access to library services through technology to encourage Gloucestershire people to carry out their own transactions with library, council and other services as part of digital citizenship. During the closure, books and other items can be returned to any other Gloucestershire library or renewed via the customer contact centre on 0845 230 5420.
A programme to roll out self service to other libraries around the county over the coming months is currently being finalised.
