ARMED robbers held up Bet Fred Bookmakers in the high street last night and got away with between £300 and £400. The robbers threatened a member of staff and tied his hands with tape.

Stroud Police are investigating the robbery and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Police were alerted to the robbery at 9.20pm yesterday, Thursday August 5, when a member of staff called to report that a man had entered the premises and threatened a member of staff, tying his hands with tape, before stealing an amount of cash, believed to be between £300 and £400. It’s thought that the man was carrying a firearm and had concealed his identity with a scarf. He was also wearing a grey hooded top and grey trousers. He ran from the scene along Lansdown, in the direction of the Slad Road.

Officers are eager to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or may have seen then man, particularly a man and woman who witnessed the offender running from the shop.
