Gloucestershire's school pupils have once again gained excellent results in national tests for 11 year olds.
The provisional Key Stage 2 results for 2010 show that Gloucestershire is once again in the top 25% of councils nationally for pupils achieving level 4 or above.
84% percent of Gloucestershire pupils reached at least the expected level (level 4) in English, 83% in Maths and 88% in Science.
Councillor Jackie Hall, cabinet member for education and skills said: “We’re pleased to see Gloucestershire’s results are again ahead of the national average, although the picture is not as complete as in previous years as some schools boycotted the tests. The real result is for all our children to leave primary school, confidently being able to read and write. This will enable them to excel in their secondary education.”
