TWO teenagers are due to take on a tough challenge by cycling 1,000 miles in two weeks using bikes with just one gear.
Pat Tarry from Nailsworth and Ben Silvey from Rodborough start their long ride tomorrow, Wednesday, from Land's End in Cornwall.
They will cycle through Stroud on Saturday and then travel on to John O'Groats, the most northern point in Scotland.
The pair hope to complete the ride in no more than two weeks, with their target date Wednesday, August 18.
Ben, 19, said: "Anyone who knows Pat and myself will also know that we have never attempted anything like this before, so you might say that we have bit off more than we can chew with choosing to go single speed but just doing the ride was not enough for us.
"Thousands of people have done the ride, and it is something we have both wanted to do for a long time, so why not do it a bit differently?"
The boys hope to raise £5,000 for Help for Heroes.
