A CELEBRATION was held at Paganhill's Maypole Village Hall last Friday to show off the newly-renovated community facility.
Members of the hall's committee mingled with guests including MP Neil Carmichael, Stroud mayor Andy Read, district councillors, builder Terry Stevenson and those who funded the project.
Residents, church members and those who attend exercise classes at the hall were also present to see the progress.
Sue Sutton, secretary of the Maypole Village Hall committee, said: "We have been working towards this exciting development for several years.
"The redesigning of the toilet area means that there is now a disabled toilet, making it available for many more groups.
"This has been made possible by a grant of £20,000 from Gloucestershire Environmental Trust, with a donation of £750 from the Barnwood House Trust and generous voluntary input from Simon Littlewood of Elevation One Building Design Ltd who redesigned the area. "A grant from Stroud District Council allowed us to replace the water main, replace the front door, replace the exterior lights and revamp the electrical distribution boards.
"Stroud Town Council provided the hall with two notice boards and a Community Payback team has also done a lot of repair work, particularly to the outside of the hall.
"Our aim is to make the hall a valuable and valued part of the community, welcoming to everyone."
