Police are appealing for witnesses to an assault near the Hampden Way car park on Wellington Street.
The incident took place between 1.15am and 1.45am today - Thursday, July 29.
An 18-year-old woman from Gloucester was approached by a man who grabbed her and pulled her to the floor. The offender then ran off in the direction of Cromwell Street when two men got out of a dark saloon car to help the victim.
The offender is described as an Asian man, around 5ft 6ins tall, in his late twenties, of skinny build. He had a moustache and long goatee beard and was wearing green tracksuit bottoms and white zip-up hoodie.
The victim was left with a slight graze to her left knees.
Police spokesman Chris Jackson said: “We believe there were a few people and vehicles in the area at the time and would urge anyone who witnessed anything suspicious to come forward, particularly the two men in the dark saloon car who stopped to help the victim.”
