FORMER Sir William Romney’s School pupil James Headspeath completed one of Europe’s most grueling triathlon events in an impressive six hours and 17 minutes.

James, 22, who lives in Minchinhampton and studied at Cirencester College, was one of 1,400 athletic competitors who swam, ran and cycled over 70 miles at this year’s Antwerp Iron Man Triathlon in Belgium on Sunday, July 25.

Having trained for more than seven months in preparation for the mammoth slog, James has so managed to raise over £100 for Help for Heroes and is still accepting sponsorship via his donations website at www. justgiving.com/headspeath2becomeironman "I never used to be able to swim very far and I usually came last in cross country," said James.

"But I am a strong believer that you can make things happen if you train hard enough and follow your dreams."
