STROUD hit-and-run victim Julie Bloodworth has been deprived of a final chance to say goodbye to her father.
John Bloodworth, 75, lost his fight with cancer of the liver and intestine on Wednesday, July 14 at his home in France.
Due to her horrific injuries and ongoing treatment doctors said it was not safe for daughter Julie to travel.
She was unable to see her father in the chapel of rest or attend his funeral.
"I will never come to terms with the fact that due to my horrific injuries inflicted by that heartless driver, I was unable to travel with my sisters to say my last goodbye to the father we all adored," said Julie.
Great-grandad Mr Bloodworth became ill in February during Julie's time in Frenchay Hospital.
He was a well-known builder who lived in Stroud before moving away 12 years ago.
He was married to Ann Sceats for 27 years and they had four daughters - Julie, Caroline, Lynda and Tina.
Julie was left with a broken skull, holes in her left shoulder and back, three broken ribs, ligament damage to her left leg and part of her ear missing after being run over in Stroud on the night of her 47th birthday on Saturday, February 13.
She was found in Parliament Street car park, several hundred yards away from where police believe she was run down, outside her home in Brick Row.
The driver has still not come forward.
