OVER 60s will be able to swim at a special discounted price, it was announced at the Stroud District Council full meeting on Thursday, July 22.
The plan comes after the Government announced that the funding for its free swimming programme would cease on Saturday, July 31.
In response to this, Dursley Pool and Stratford Park Leisure Centre are offering a 25% reduction on the annual swim pass for those aged 60 and over, provided the full annual pass is purchased during this period.
For customers wishing to pay by direct debit at Stratford Park, they will also receive the first month free thereby only paying for 11 months out of 12.
Councillor Keith Pearson, Cabinet Member for Regeneration said: "The importance of staying active in later life cannot be over-estimated so we are delighted to be able to offer the older residents of the community the opportunity to enjoy swimming at a reduced price."
