A Cheltenham PCSO hopes that passing a sign language course will help him communicate more effectively with the people he serves.
Ross Nicholl is celebrating after passing his Level 1 British Sign Language (BSL) course with flying colours.
Took the course between September 2009 and May this year and now wants to put his skills into practice.
PCSO Nicholl, of the Leckhampton Safer Community Team (SCT) is asking deaf residents to help him polish his skills while discussing any issues of concern.
He said: “I’m very proud to have passed the course, although this is just the first stage towards becoming fluent. As well as the pleasure of learning a new skill, it will help me talk directly with people who suffer hearing difficulties.
“I want to keep my signing proficient so please come and meet me. It will also be a great opportunity to bring up any local issues you'd like to discuss.”
