THOMAS Keble School has ended the year on a high after learning that its specialisms in technology and sport are likely to be renewed next term.
The re-designated status means the Eastcombe comprehensive can look forward to receiving the same annual funding it has enjoyed since it first became a specialist technology college in 2002.
Four years later in 2006 it was awarded its specialism in sport for its outstanding success in the technology field.
Recently the school was also officially designated as a consultant school because of its open support for other schools.
Currently, all specialist colleges must apply to have their statuses re-designated every four years.
An assessment was carried out in June by Gloucestershire County Council-employed school improvement partner Sarah Harris, who concluded: "Thomas Keble is an outward looking centre of excellence and an improving school both within its specialisms and across the whole board".
GCC will now pass the recommendation onto the Department of Education, which in turn will confirm the status renewal.
Head teacher Chris Steer said: "We are delighted to have achieved such an excellent report that recognises the outstanding outcomes for all children and the school’s determination to drive up standards even further."
