The Shop in Stroud column THE Shop in Stroud initiative, which is managed by Stroud Chamber of Commerce and Trade, and supported by Stroud District Council, is pleased to announce that free car parking will soon be available every day after 3pm in Stroud’s London Road multi-storey car park.
Named Free after 3, the free parking offer means that visitors to the town centre can park free of charge in the multi-storey area of SDC’s London Road car park from now until the end of December.
Cllr Keith Pearson, cabinet member for regeneration at Stroud District Council said: “Attracting more people into Stroud and encouraging them to spend more time exploring all that is on offer in the town centre is a key priority for us and we hope the parking offer helps achieves this.”
Carole Garfield, chairman of the Stroud Chamber of Commerce, said: “We are delighted that shoppers will soon be able to take advantage of this great free car parking. Feedback from shoppers and traders has indicated that this is something that will make shopping in Stroud easier, especially whilst the A46 roadworks continue. We know that Stroud offers a unique shopping experience and we believe the free car parking after 3pm will encourage more and more people to visit the town to shop.”
Note that the Free after 3 scheme offer does not apply to the outside spaces of the London Road car park – only those in the multi-storey block.
