FANS attending rap star Tinchy Stryder’s concert in Gloucester city centre tomorrow night, Friday, July 23, can look forward to a safe and drug-free experience thanks to several measures being implemented by police.
Security arches will be in place at Gloucester’s GL1 centre, to ensure only genuine fans of the pop star are let inside.
The three arches will detect anyone foolish enough to bring a weapon to the event, with several officers also attending.
A passive drugs dog will also be on had to sniff out illegal substances.
PC Matt Hammond explained that the measures were intended to reassure and protect the estimated 1,500 gig-goers. "We are expecting a safe, drug-free event and we are going to make sure that happens," he said.
"We want to ensure that concert goers can enjoy their night in safety and that there are no drugs inside."
Ken Meekings, project manager for Aspire Sports and Cultural Trust, which operates the centre, added: "We are expecting a wide range of people to attend the event, including families with children.
"We are happy to be working closely with the police to ensure that a great evening can be had by all in a safe environment."
