RANDWICK parishioners were celebrating on Wednesday, July 14 after a family cockatoo, called Peanuts, returned home after days away.
The pet, from Cashes Green, had had his wings clipped in order to prevent her from flying off but when released into the garden she flew away.
Peanuts was last seen on Sunday, July 11 but to the surprise of many attending the school play at Randwick church she was alive up in a tree.
All was not well, though, she was being attacked by wild crows and magpies.
Owner Liisa Newton, who is an aerobics instructor, was determined to rescue her and climbed onto the flat roof to collect her.
A relieved Liisa said: "One of the boys ran into church and told me that Peanuts was in a tree. I tried to get her down and she landed on the roof and I decide that I'd go and get her. My son and daughter are very relieved."
