Two police Community Support Officers for the Berkeley area, PCSO Mike Trebble and PCSO Claire Silcox, visited Berkeley Primary School at the end of the summer term and gave the pupils a lesson on road safety.
This was a pilot lesson and, due to its success, PCSO’s Trebble and Silcox are aiming to continue the lessons with advice and awareness of the dangers of speeding in the new school year.
The pupils, all from year 6, were split into three groups and given tests on their knowledge of road signs. This was then followed by a DVD on road safety and finally the pupils each had a turn at doing some 'live' speed checks with a police traffic speed camera outside the school. Thankfully on this occasion, nobody was found to be doing more than 29mph outside their school on Marybrook Street.
