Following a burglary at a home address in Wormington near Broadway a reward is being offered for information that leads to the successful arrest and conviction of the offender and the recovery the stolen items.
Items totalling an estimated £174,000 were stolen in the burglary, which happened in the early hours of Wednesday July 14, including the 1988 Cheltenham Gold Cup.
The cup is a yellow gold two handled rose bowl on feet with a cut and wave ribbed border. The handles are a cascading leaf design and the cup sits on a green onyx plinth. The cup was won by the horse Charter Party at the 1988 Cheltenham Festival. The cup has an estimated value of £10,500.
Amongst the items stolen were four other racing trophies; The Britannia Stakes Challenge Cup which is valued at £20,000 and the Grand Annual Steeple Chase Challenge Cup which is around 100 years old and worth £25,000. A silver gilt two handled cup and cover trophy made by Tiffany & Co, won by the horse Barton Bank in the 1993 King George VI Triple Print Steeple Chase at Kempton Park, valued at £1750 and the Tote Silver Trophy won by Mister Morose in 1998 which is a silver rose bowl with a pierced floral border on wooden plinth which is worth £1000.
Over thirty other bronze and silver items were stolen in the burglary including; a silver hand pierced oval fruit bowl, a pair of Queen Anne Britannia silver candlesticks on baluster stems and domed circular bases and a George IV punch ladle with gilt bowl, embossed with a floral design.
The victim of the burglary has offered a personal reward of £15,000 for information that leads to a successful arrest and the recovery of these items.
