AS I walked in to Chez De Aphrodite in the hall of Amberley Primary School I was greeted by two delightful young ladies competently working front of house who introduced me to my waitress and showed me to my table.
Table mats were beautifully handmade and a jar painted red gave a tealight a lovely glow.
My waitress, Grace Aspinwall, 10, was attentive, while restaurant manager Alex Montgomery, 10, ran a tight ship.
Tzatziki dip with pitta bread was served as an appetiser while there was a choice of vegetable and haloumi kebabs or stuffed vine leaves for starters.
Fellow diner and parent Gloria Smith said: "The kebabs are deliciously herby which brings out the flavour of the tomatoes and bread."
The traditional Greek dish mousaka was served for the main course, which was complemented by a crunchy green salad.
I was served baklava for dessert, which was nutty and scrumptious.
Greek cookies served with Greek yoghurt and honey were also served as an alternative.
The food was complemented by some wonderful entertainment.
Imogen Norman and Emily Burnside, both 10, confidently sang Abba's classic I Have a Dream, while Jasmine Chiswick astounded parents with her brilliant piano playing.
At the end of the night the audience enjoyed watching all the waiting staff dance to traditional Greek music.
Deputy headteacher Tony Larner said: "Running the Greek restaurant has had all the children so excited.
"It is cross curricular, as it covers history, cookery and the children also came up with menu ideas and designed posters.
"They have all worked so well as a team - I am really proud of them."
