police in Gloucester are appealing for information after a shooting in Winsley Road, Matson last night.
At around 11.20pm yesterday, Friday, July 9, police received a report of a man exiting a dark green saloon car on the road and carrying a gun. The car is believed to have a part registration number P664.
The man, who is described as wearing dark clothing, a hood and a mask, is then believed to have approached a man outside his house and shot him, before driving away in the car in the direction of the Musket pub.
The victim, a 24-year-old local man, was taken to hospital with serious shotgun wounds to the legs and is currently in a condition described as stable and not life threatening.
DCI Neil Kelly, of Gloucestershire Police, said: “Firstly I would like to stress to the local community that incidents like this are very rare in Gloucestershire and that we do not believe this was a random shooting. Officers will be speaking to residents in the area to answer any concerns they have and help reassure them.
“We are currently doing everything we can to identify the offender. Forensic searches at the scene are continuing and we are speaking to witnesses, conducting house-to-house enquiries and checking CCTV in the area.
“We would appeal for anyone with any information about this crime to get in contact with us immediately, particularly if they see or remember seeing the dark green saloon car the offender was using.”
Anyone with information should call 0845 090 1234 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting incident 634 of July 9.
