PLANS to transform Tricorn House into a care home have been recommended for refusal by officials at Stroud District Council.
Concerns were raised that with 170 new staff employed by the residential home, they would need considerably more than the 18 existing parking spaces. This would inevitably lead to indiscriminate parking on nearby residential roads.
The application proposes to change the building from an office block to a residential home incorporating an elderly, mental and infirm (EMI) wing.
The decision will be voted on by members of the SDC Development Control Committee on Tuesday, July 8.
The triangular building, well-known for its 1970s concrete pebble dash exterior, has fallen into a state of disrepair after being vacant for five years.
An application has already been approved for renewable energy company Ecotricity to keep the building as offices.
