Mike Myers and Eddie Murphy team up in Shrek 4 for another great Shrek adventure.

From the offset, Shrek is bored of constantly having to play dad to his triplets, be the entertainment for the village and being Mr nice guy.

But someone should have told Shrek that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. Rumplestiltskin comes along with his Ogre for a day wish, and Shrek is only too happy to sign on the dotted line.

Once he gets his old life back, its all fine for a while – rolling in mud, scaring the village and doing what he wants, but the shine starts to wear off when he realises what he has lost.

So Shrek has to fight Rumple in his battle to find Fiona and get his True Loves Kiss to break the curse.

With all of the Shrek movie’s so far enticing families everywhere, this had a lot to live up too.

But with the combination of Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz, you are sure never to go wrong.

All the films so far were good spins on the normal fairytale, and this is no exception.

With Puss In Boots now completely changed from the lean, feisty puss we know, and Gingey fighting off gingerbread horses with a candy cane, this still has the funny factor that we fell in love with in the first film.

However in this film, more than in any of the others, I found myself feeling sorry for the ogre in some parts of this film.

But fear not, the film isn’t going to leave you blubbing at the end.

Also the film has more of a dark feel, with witches appearing from every mud pit and forest.

But it still contains the light-heartedness that we all know and love in the Shrek films.

The 3D effect also brings the characters to life in front of your eyes, helping make this a tremendous conclusion to the Shrek sequel.

Overall the film is perfect for any family trying to round off their Shrek viewing experience, well done DreamWorks for the brilliant character of Shrek that will stay in our minds long after he has gone off the screens. Rating: 8/10
