DESPITE rumours to the contrary, the Nailstock Festival is to return this spring for its third year.

Even in the face of the success of the last festival, there was a moment when it was thought it wouldn't be run this year as Hamish Guerrini, the man responsible for Nailstock's conception, decided on a much-needed sabbatical.

"With no one to take over the role, Nailstock seemed doomed," said Ben Parker, one of the people overseeing the popular festival's continuation.

"The Nailsworth Festival committee approached Matt Pollard and myself to see if we were interested in taking over.

"At the same time, Tony Ind and Chris Gregory, who had helped on the technical side last year, were also trying to form a committee the ensure Nailstock's future.

"Both groups met shortly after Christmas and Nailstock's future looks set to be secure. The Nailstock committee has been expanded to include Yvonne Bruce and Steve Field, who have brought valued experience of safety and event management to the team.

"The support the team has received so far has been tremendous. Many local businesses, as well as the town council, are providing both material and financial aid.

"Some of the things we've already been offered are going to take Nailstock to a new level. It's sure to be a very exciting event with many great local bands playing, exhibitions, amazing food and drink to suit all tastes and a beautiful new stage that has got everyone very excited."

So far, at least 10 local bands have been confirmed to play the day long festival on April 22. More information can be found at www.nailstock.com which will updated regularly.
