TAMWORTH goalkeeper Scott Bevan was released from intensive care on Friday after undergoing a life-saving operation for the removal of a kidney following the serious injury he suffered in Tamworth's 2-1 victory at Forest Green on Tuesday night.

Bevan, who joined the Lambs from MK Dons at the end of October, was injured in a 64th minute collision with ex-Tamworth striker Julian Alsop. There was severe swelling to his side and the Forest Green club doctor was consulted.

However, on the coach journey home, he was vomiting and feeling very poorly. After arriving back in Milton Keynes home he went to his local hospital, where he was admitted for a scan which indicated clotting around the kidney.

He was treated and kept under observation to see if the clotting had dispersed, but in the evening specialists decided surgery was necessary and this revealed the kidney was shattered and had to be removed. Statement

Rovers issued a statement extending their 'best wishes' to Bevan and confirming he was seen by the club's doctor after the game.

The statement read: "Scott carried on after an incident, where he may have sustained the injury, which led to his admission to hospital.

"It is noted that, although he continued to play on, he left the field of play shortly after, walking to and remaining in the technical area until the end of the game.

"It is a requirement of the Conference to have in attendance a qualified medical practitioner to oversee any needs associated with player injuries.

"We can confirm this was the case at this match and that Scott was seen by the Rovers club doctor at the conclusion of the game in the club's treatment room."
