KING'S Stanley man John Cotterill has denied 'grooming' a nine-year-old boy with the aim of using him for pornography.

Cotterill, aged 65, also pleaded not guilty to indecently assaulting a 14-year-old boy more than 20 years ago.

The charges were among several alleged sex offences put to him at Gloucester Crown Court on Thursday. He is alleged to have met the boy in October, 2004 after grooming him and planned to use him in pornography.

The offences involving the teenage boy are dated between 1978 and 1982.

He also denied taking indecent photographs and photographic slides of children between 1985 and 2004.

Several of these charges relate to groups of naked children aged between two and 12.

He also denied making 43 indecent photographs of naked children between 1985 and 2005.

A further charge of possessing nearly 900 indecent photographic slides and negatives of children and of possessing indecent photographs of girls under 16 was also denied.

He finally denied breaching a sexual offences prevention order.

Robert Duval, defending, said the matter would be strongly contested. Cotterill was released on conditional bail and a trial is likely in June.
